Default My ranger is stuck!

I've gotten my Ranger up to level 11, but now I seem to be stuck. The only things I can defeat don't give me experience, but I can't seem to take on anything tougher. She's gotten to the Frontier Gate and Piken Square, however, I keep dying on Fires in the North. I'm running with all henchman, but even with 3 6th-level henchmen, I can't make it through the missions. This is my first character, so looking for any advice.

Here's my current build:

Ran/Ele (but basically, a pure ranger)

Beast Mastery: 3 (10th level pet)
Expertise: 5
Wilderness Survival: 4
Marksmanship: 7 (6+1)

Skills:
Penetrating Attack
Hunter's Shot
Dual Shot
Ignite Arrows
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal
Troll Ungent
Rez Signet

Also, if you die, try again without leaving the zone. It's not like the monsters you've killed also come back to life. That only happens in a couple places, much further along in the game. Worst case, you do a lot of running to kill 1 or 2 charr before the rest overwhelm you again.

I don't know what to tell you. You shouldn't be having any trouble with that build. At that point in the game you can spread points and still be OK (you don't have the skills to focus on 1 or 2 attributes anyway).

If you need to, drop your pet and reallocate your points to Wilderness Survival or Marksmanship, since this will free up a few skill slots and prevent the annoying "your pet died, so your skills are disabled" effect.

You should be able to run almost anything with just Henchmen, but as he said, a decent player team will do much better.

Upgrade your equipment and keep trying.

PS, check your private messages.

yeah alot of ppl make that mistake. Later on when u face like lvl 24+ monsters. We take out 3 but die. we all have 15DP. so sum guy walks back into town and we got to kill the 3 monsters over again. So 15-30 DP aint that bad. but if ur at 60 then walk back in. and try with real people. much smarter than henchies

Thanks for the feedback. I usually do ok until I run into a Charr Overseer or two, then I have trouble taking him down. I have a warrior and a mesmer at 9th and neither one of them have problems, but then again, it's much easier to handle casters with a mesmer and the warrior can just frenzy on him.

I tried distracting shot, but I could never get it off in time to stop the heal.

blah i'd say drop the pet since you have no pet skill besides the basic 2 and 3 BM isn't making your pet very strong.

Just gotta practice on your timing. Watch the fight and you can see the animation of them going for the cast, you can block it. It's not always easy and sometimes takes a few attempts but it is possible.

i agree, pets are not good to have unless BM is up high and you are actually usuing alot of pet skills otherwise they can really mess things up by causing you to focus to much on keepin it alive when it's really not doing that much damage for you when not using other skills to boost it's damage.

Also the most important thing with a ranger is to get expertise built up, being able to use a skill on every shot helps a lot. so maybe find a way to respec and raise your expertise a little, you also might consider using apply poision instead of ignite arrows, poison the overseer and then hit them with power shot and penetrating attack, and do your best to try and distract their heal skill, that should make them drop faster.

Expertise is key; pre-spam interrupting attacks to have a chance of actually interrupting (I like to alternate normal attack with distracting shot); drop the pet; drop the rez sig; use a defensive stance; check your armor (get AL 40); use a fast bow when in close (eg shortbow).
